PAGSUBOK AT PAG-ASA
( LEM Barroga )

Ang larawan ng Pilipinas na mahal kong lubos
Pira-prasong lupain at sa tubig ay nakagapos
Lumalaban sa pagsubok at mga tilamsik ng paghihikahos
Ngunit umaapaw sa pag-asa at pagmamahalang taos.

Ang ating sinasapit ay hindi isang pagmamalupit
Lahat ay may dahilan na hindi natin ngayon malirip
Bukas nakalaan ang biyaya mula sa langit
Maging handa at karapat-dapat at ito’y ating makakamit.

Kalikasan ay sinira bagkus mga basura ang s’yang itinanim
Huwag magtaka sa mga pinsalang ating aanihin
Dumi sa ating puso at mapagsamantalang hangarin
Kasamang linisin nang pagpapala’y dumaloy sa atin.

Hindi sana malubha ang sinapit na pinsala
Kung maayos ang pamamahala at bawat isa ay may kusa
Magtulong-tulong tayong ibangon ang lupaypay nating bansa
Maging handa sa pagsagupa sa mga hamon ng tadhana.

Hindi natin batid kung saan maganda mamalagi
Panahon at kalikasan ay binago na ng pag-uugali
May pag-asa pa sa mga pagsubok na kumakanti
Diyos ang kakanlong, hirap at luha ay mapapawi.

Matatag na pundasyon at lugar na matayog
Ligtas sa pag-guho at trahedya ng pagkalubog
Paalala ng Lumikha na sa atin ay umiirog
Pundasyon ng puso’y ayusin at sa Itaas ay dumulog.

Ang maunlad na bansa at payapang lupain
Hindi makakamit kung sariling kapakanan ang iisipin
Bawat isa sa ati’y may kaakibat na tungkulin
Pagmamahal sa kapwa at malasakit sa kapaligiran natin.

Sarili’y siyasatin bago ituro ang salarin
Nakaambag ka ba sa pasanin o nakatulong pigilin?
Gawin ang karapat-dapat nang maganda ang tunguhin
Buhay natin ay iligtas at ang bansa ay pagyamanin.

Bayang magiliw, perlas ng silanganan
Ipagtanggol sa mapagsamantala, dayuhan man o kababayan
Huwag hayaang masupil ng mapag-imbot at mapagkamkam
Kayamanan at kagandahan nito’y ipamana sa kabataan.

Pilipinas kong minumutya, pugad ng mga bayani
Sa panahon ng pagsubok at pighati, pagdamay ang naghahari
Pagtugon sa nangangailanga‘y walang pinipili at hinihingi
Salamat kababayan ko, mabuhay ang ating lahi.

Bayan nati’y katangi-tangi at pinagpala ng Maykapal
Sapagkat sa Kanyang mga palad nakalagak at nakasandal
Sa mga unos, sakit at hirap ay hindi sumusuko at matitigal
Ang Diyos ay nakamasid at nakikinig sa ating mga dasal.

Ito’y isang panawagan sa pamahalaan at taong-bayan
Pahalagahan natin buhay ng ating kapwa at mga ari-arian
Isa rin itong pagpapahayag ng pagdamay sa kalungkutan
Sa mga kababayan kong nasalanta ng trahedyang…tao rin ang dahilan.
