This HOWTO is only applicable if you're in the same network subnet or connected using your company's VPN service.

Prerequisite:
You need to be a workstation local admin group or with administrative rights within your
domain. You configured your workstation firewall settings to allow Remote Desktop connection.

First, check if the workstation firewall setting is allowing remote desktop connection:
  • To allow Remote Desktop, click on Start, Control Panel.
  • In Control Panel, double click on Windows Firewall icon.
  • In Windows Firewall, click Exceptions tab, then put check on Remote Desktop, click OK to close.
  • Click on Start, right-click on My Computer, then Properties.
  • In System Properties, click on Remote tab, put check on Allow users to connect remotely to this computer.
  • Get the computer name and IP address.

To test, go to any workstation in your network and start the Remote Desktop tool. Click on Start, Run, type MSTSC hit [Enter] to execute. You may use the computer name or IP address. If the DNS is working properly, you can use the computer name and if not use the IP Address.

I hope this help you.
